1st Annual Chalk Art Festival at the Indian River Mall

This was the first ever chalk art festival in Indian River County. Using only pastel chalks (which are environmentally friendly),the parking lot was transformed into living art. Watching art come to life is considered a performance art and has an immediacy that gives every piece a uniqueness that can never be truly duplicated. The light and surface elements are constantly changing, making the art a constantly evolving entity. Images can be of anything, ranging from reproductions of great masterpieces to photos to 3D animorphic art that tricks the viewer into seeing something different than what is actually on the street.

5th Annual Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk

The Adventure Photography Group participated in the Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk. We met at Sexton Plaza and either participated in the "Fashion Photo Walk" or went off to shoot the historic architecture and other various sites in the vicinity. We had a few models to work with posing in various outfits around the beach area and some of the other historic sites. The photographers and models all had a great time creating and being featured in the photographs from this walk.

5th Annual Mulligan's Skim Jam

The 5th Annual Mulligan's Skim Jam was a great opportunity for our Adventure Photography members to practice their stop action photography. The skim boarding contest took place behind Mulligan's Beach House Bar and Grill in Vero Beach. The contest included four divisions for all ages and all proceeds from the contest will benefit St. Judes Children's Hospital. It was an action packed day with the experienced skim boarders showing off their high flying tricks.

Monday

Water Droplets In Studio

We offered members a chance to stay cool in the Air Conditioning of the studio to try their hand at photographing water droplets. Working in teams of two, photographers used various colored items to reflect into the water while water dripped into the pan. It was a fun filled time being creative!

© Nancy True
"FUN! It was so wonderful to see how well everyone was able to capture great shots. Scott was able to help us all with this technique. It looked like everyone was having fun shooting and sharing almost an electric energy was in the studio. I look forward to future studio workshops!" -Nancy True

"It was extremely valuable to learn how to set up the equipment to get the water droplet shots as well as experiment with flash strenghts to capture the right amount of light. Thanks to Scott and Nancy for doing an afterrnoon session." -Chuck Sinclair

Sunday

4th of July Fireworks

We photographed the July 4th fireworks display from the Barber Bridge. We had a great vantage point on top of the bridge looking south towards Memorial Island. The boats and reflections of fireworks in the Indian River provided a nice foreground.

"The venue was great...The breeze was perfect...Old friends, new friends...It was a great night." -Peter H. Connelly

"I give 5 stars to Scott and Comrads for your wonderful company and helpfulness. As a new member, you were very welcoming to me and my friend and it was a pleasure spending time and getting to know more about you all. As far as my photo-taking experience, I give myself 1.5 stars only because of a dysfunctional tripod and lack of proper equipment and my beginner status, which, of course will both improve with time. I did get a few nice shots and overall, it was a memorable evening and I'm very pleased to have joined the group. Many thanks to Scott and the rest of you!" -Robin DeLuca

"I thought that the fireworks were "Pretty Good" I actually think that last year in December the Pointe West show was a bit better with 3 stations. No complaints, the fireworks were good! I'm glad to see that the new members had fun too!!!! Improvements come with TIME and PRACTICE, we'll get you there. The wind kept us cool, but was blowing the tripod a bit." -J. Scott Kelly

Cracker Boy Boat Works

Cracker Boy Boat Works is a working boat yard in Fort Pierce that has everything from newly restored boats to boats that were in complete disrepair due to damage during the past hurricanes. This offered us a huge variety of color and texture to photograph. It allowed everyone to get creative and focus on details or the big picture.

© Robin DeLuca
"It was my first photo "Adventure Walk" with this group (and actually, this is the only "Group" I've joined in my lifetime. I had one of the best times I've had in a long time." -Robin DeLuca

© Nancy True
"It was nice to re-visit a place a second time. The weather was pleasant and it was nice to see so many on a summer shoot." -Nancy True

© Roger T. Sobkowiak
"Good to go back to same location...every now and then....to see if one can find new shots/angles/subjects. Plenty of things to shoot...and plenty of room to work around the subjects. We got there early...before the sun heated things up....so shooting from 8-10 worked. Always fun to see what everyone came up with." Roger T. Sobkowiak

"I love all the textures and colors! There was a lot of inspiration around the boat yard!" -Janice Reynolds

"The boat yard was filled with boats in various stages of repair or disrepair, many opportunities for photos." -Carolyn Shafer
