Old Florida-McKee Botanical Gardens

The Adventure Photography and Photo Walks Group visited McKee Botanical Gardens in Vero Beach. The water lilies are in full bloom at this time of year and the gardens have an exquisite collection of the flowers. Listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, McKee was founded by Waldo Sexton in 1922 by the McKee-Sexton Land Company. Once boasting over 100,000 visitors per year as a tourist attraction, today the gardens are primarily used for events, exhibits, education and the enjoyment of nature enthusiasts. With the sun shining bright, the group members were challenged to find blooms in shade. Some even tried to to photograph objects other than flowers.
