Vero Beach Halloween Costume Parade

“Great weather, better shots taken when the kids are just coming in and scattered, parents most welcoming, good to have a number of cameras at one time gives the subjects a feeling the
paparazzi are there.”

“The weather was perfect. There were many children with very imaginative costumes all sizes and ages. Lots of photo ops everywhere.......”

“CRAZY...as usual!! We had a blast, but it was exhausting and I looked like a tomato by the end of the day. There should be some good photos, but it will take a few day to cull through all the chaos!!”

“Allot of open space, providing plenty of angles to shoot the boats. Cordial workers who did not mind having their photos taken while they worked. Plenty of equipment and tools around to provide good combinations for imaginative photos.”

“The boat yard proved to have great potential. Even though it was a small yard and out of season (not to many boats), everyone seemed to keep their creative juices flowing!”

No Junkyard...No Problem!

We embarked on a trip to the local junkyard with an appointment for 9am on Sunday morning, but 18 Adventures were stood up by the "MAN WITH THE KEY"!  We missed out on the junkyard and he missed out on some fat cash.

In true form of our group, we set off for another bunch of junk....the local closed down citrus packing plant.  With no trespassing signs posted we dared no go beyond the fence, but we were still able to obtain some great images!

Didn't work out as planned due to circumstances beyond our control but we made lemonade out of lemons and The group rolled well with the punches. That's one of the reasons this is such a great meetup group.  Bruce Weissman

Since the fellow with the key to the Junkyard failed to show up we moved the meetup to another location with some old machinery.  Carolyn Shafer

This is why our group is called Adventure Photography!! Not what we planned but a great shoot none the less. Great to see new faces hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

GREAT SHOWING of our enthusiasts!! Too bad the gate keeper was a no show, but in true fashion of our members we made "LEMONADE" ! Moving to the abandoned packing plant turned out to be just as good if not better. So far I have seen some very "CREATIVE EYES" for such a small area that we were able to work in! THANK YOU for your understanding of the situation that was out of my control. "OUR MEMBERS ARE FANTASTIC!"

Even tho the schmuks did not show up, I am glad we made an alternative plan and am grateful to everyone who helps me out!  Selene

SUNRISE TO SUNSET – LEADING THIRD ANNUAL KELBY WORLDWIDE PHOTO WALKS

On Saturday, July 24th, over 28,000 people in over 1,100 cities around the world participated in the Third Annual Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk.  Our own J. Scott Kelly was the leader for two of those photo walks – Vero Beach on Florida’s East Coast and Clearwater Beach on Florida’s West Coast.

“This was a great way to meet new people with the same interests as I have. Lots to shoot in this area great morning.”
-Nancy True

The day began at 6:00 a.m. at Sexton Plaza in Vero Beach with 50 photographers gathering to capture the sunrise over the ocean and other creative images found along Ocean Drive.  After the morning’s photography session, everyone gathered at Mulligan’s for breakfast to share their experience and their images.

Later that day, Scott and a few other members of the Adventure Photography and Photo Walk group traveled west on State Road 60 to the other side of the state to Clearwater Beach.  There they met up with over 40 photographers from that area to photograph the sun setting over the Gulf of Mexico at Pier 60.  As with all outdoor events, the weather is the biggest challenge, especially summertime in Florida.  The Clearwater photo walk was no exception.  The evening began in the pouring rain with a thunderstorm, however just as quickly as it came, the skies cleared for a magnificent sunset after all.  For those who braved the storm, being able to capture both extremes of lightning and a colorful sunset was unforgettable.

“I had a great time discovering the unique & hidden treasures on & around the historic buildings along the beach at sunrise! We had a great group of photographers who were excited to explore the area too!”
-Janice Reynolds

"By far, the Scott Kelby Photowalk on Clearwater beach was one of the most uniquely diverse photo shoots I have been involved with in quite some time. It began with one of the most intensely angry electrical storms I have seen in a long time, and ended with an incredibly vibrant sunset. There seemed to be something for every photographer. And, the shots coming out of the event seem to be equally as astounding as the scenery."
- Andrew Vernon

Now comes the hard part, each participant from the walks must choose their best image and submit it for judging.  The leader in each city then selects the best image from their photo walk to enter in the worldwide competition.  Winners will then be chosen by the Kelby Media Group.

Good luck to all those who participated.  We will keep you posted as to which image was selected from the Vero Beach and Clearwater photo walks and the outcome as to the winning entries.

Wednesday

Freedom on the Fourth!

Despite the inclement weather members of Adventures Photography and Photo Walks gathered at A.W. Young park in Vero Beach to capture the beautiful fireworks display!  Members gathered early to get good placement for the show, but the clouds started moving in early as well.  Just before the fireworks display was to start the rain came down lightly, but it wasn't hard enough to dampen our enthusiasm or fun!

“We anticipated the rain and when it arrived it wasn't enough to dampen out spirits or our fun!! We still were able to shoot some fantastic fireworks.”
