Shore Lb. Thro Down Skimboard Contest

The Adventure Photography and Photo Walks Group spent Labor Day photographing the local annual Skinboard Competition in Vero Beach, FL. Our challenge this month was the capturing the FAST ACTION using higher shutter speeds. The spray off the boards makes for some spectacular abstract patterns! Always a good time even though it was VERY HOT!!

MOVING WATER-Waterfalls

The Adventure Photography and Photo Walks Group spent the early evening of August 14th photographing man made waterfalls and a fountain in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Our challenge was to wait on the low level lighting of twilight to allow us to shoot at slow shutter speeds. Some of the members used neutral density filters to get a jump on things! As the light lowered some of the artificial light that was available played off the water which made for some nice effects!

In September we will work on fast shutter speeds as we try and capture the action of skim boards at the beach so stay tuned!

Night Lights Photography-FIREWORKS!

The Adventure Photography and Photo Walks Group spent July 4th evening photographing Vero Beach's fireworks display. We set up on Merrill P. Barber Bridge which was a great vantage point looking south toward Veterans Memorial Island where the fireworks were shot. The boats floating in the river provided a nice foreground while the reflections of the fireworks off the water added more interest.

SUNRISE-Archie Smith Fish House - Sebastian, Florida

In May 2015 the photographic outing of the Adventure Photography and Photo Walks group took us up to Sebastian, FL to photograph the sunrise at the Archie Smith Fish House.

The Archie Smith’s fish house was built in 1935 and was the last operating fish house on the lagoon in Sebastian. Its destruction came with the storms of Francis and Jean in 2004 and left an historical emptiness in the local fishing community.

“Photographic Scavenger Hunt”

In April 2015 the photographic outing of the Adventure Photography and Photo Walks group was to venture down to the beach side area of Vero Beach, Fl to partake in a “Photographic Scavenger Hunt”. The hunt was to find letters that were given to the members that morning and then during our monthly critique we chose the “Best Of” each letter to spell out the word “Ocean Drive”
